The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order requires that employees must be given adequate fire instruction on induction and as appropriate, periodically thereafter.
The order also requires that employees are given information regarding fire procedures, the arrangements for fire fighting, and the general fire precautions required to satisfy the Order.
Staff should clearly not be encouraged to put themselves in danger when a fire occurs but should follow the procedures on site. Where appropriate, given some basic training and with the correct appliance, it is possible to stop a minor fire incident completely ruining a property, business or lives.
